Advertising Company Running Out Of Space, Goes For Armpits?

Some things are too peculiar to make up. Such is the case with the Wakino Ad Company in Japan. Now, traditionally, plexiglass sign holders, custom retail displays, and poster holders for signs for windows are what most companies opt for advertising displays. Such strategies have worked throughout time, are cost-effective, and not over-bearing or in-your-face

Consumers either decide to stick with a brand or purchase a competitor's in three to seven seconds, but you might take longer if the advertisement was in a woman's armpit. Yes, you read that correctly. The Wakino Ad Company is looking into women's armpits to become the next advertising spaces for their clients.

Coincidentally, the Japanese word for armpit is waki, perhaps providing a play on the company's own name, but don't quote us on that. The move to do this isn't the first time bodies have been used as advertising spaces, albeit far from ordinary advertising campaigns.

In this bold move, if a company wants to spend what equates to $89.99 per hour, your company's custom advertisement can be put onto the armpits of a model who will act as your own walking billboard. It makes us wonder how that much exposure is possible with the armpits being a body part not often naturally exposed to the light of day. But, who are we to question the methods of this advertising company?

There are layers to this story. The Wakino Ad Company is owned by another company called Liberta, which specializes in -- who would've guessed? -- armpit beautification products. This idea is brand new, so watching it pan out should be interesting. They've got at least one client, a dermatology clinic, using the armpit advertisements to push their own armpit hair removal treatments. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is.

We'll stick to  plexiglass sign holders and the like for the time being. The world of advertising is a funny place, full of ideas that are so out of left-field they just might work. If you're thinking of getting your name out there, but you aren't prepared to play the armpit card, we've got you covered, no sweat.
